Raw Dog Food Recipe
Feeding raw dog food to your puppies and dogs can be a big change from opening a bag of kibble or a can of cooked dog food. Preparations for raw dog food will be similar to making a meal for yourself (minus the cooking.) Plus, you have to keep in mind that when following this type of diet, you have to give your dog variety, and make sure they are getting good overall nutrition.
These two factors can be daunting to someone new to raw feeding. Luckily, however, there is plenty of help out there! Whenever you're unsure what to feed your dog, look up a raw dog food recipe. These recipes usually follow the raw dog food diet well, and they tend to add ingredients you may not have thought of feeding or may be surprised to learn are a part of raw feeding for dogs!
When following a raw dog food recipe, make sure you use ingredients that are as fresh as possible. Don't feed your dog old ingredients. Remember that you're feeding them raw food, and as this ages, bacteria proliferates, which can be a threat to your dog.
Here is a raw dog food recipe that is easy to follow and only takes five minutes to do!
Ingredients:
5 skin-on and bone-in chicken wings
½ cup grated carrots
½ cup cottage cheese
Instructions:
- Mix the cottage cheese and carrots together.
- Place the raw chicken bones in your dog's bowl and top this with the cottage cheese and carrot mixture.
- Serve.
This raw dog food recipe is something your dog will love! Just be sure not to feed it cottage cheese everyday since this is made with cow's milk and though this is okay for your dog, too much of it can cause digestive problems.
Here's another raw dog food recipe that takes a little longer to make, but will keep your dog full for longer!
Ingredients:
¾ cup mixed vegetables (minced)
½ cup cottage cheese
½ cups oats
2 eggs (shells included)
3 cups ground beef
Instructions:
- Mix the mixed vegetables with the cottage cheese and oats. For the vegetables, use a mixture of carrots, zucchini, and kelp.
- Add the ground beef, making sure there is an even distribution of ingredients.
- Once thoroughly mixed, break the eggs over the mixture and crush the shells onto the mixture as well. Mix this together. The eggs should somewhat bind it all together.
- Serve.
Some people choose to bake this recipe, but that would mean you are no longer serving raw food. Try to stick to a raw dog food recipe that really follows the fundamentals of the diet. Your dog will really benefit from it!
